Nonprofit Volunteering
Pinewoods Tutoring
Spring 2025 I spent a semester weekly tutoring elementary aged students in Athens-Clarke County. I facilitated English and Math learning activities for the students and assisted with homework assignments.
Hurricane Helene Rebuild
October 2024, following Hurricane Helene, I spent a weekend in Asheville doing disaster relief work. I raised over $1,000 in under 24 hours and bought heaters, propane tanks, water filters, and donated remaining funds. I tutored the children because schools were closed, primarily communicating in Spanish — their parents and additional volunteers were repairing their community of trailer homes that were decimated by the hurricane.
Live Forward
Spring 2024 I spent a semester volunteering with this Athens nonprofit that supports individuals living with HIV/AIDS. I helped organize the AIDS Walk and fundraiser by contacting local businesses and supporting the event’s organization.
Central Outreach and Advocacy Center
Summer 2022 and periodically on single occasions, I work and volunteer for this Atlanta nonprofit that provides essential resources for individuals experiencing homelessness. I delegated the mail station and check-in for caseworkers.
Internship Experience
International Rescue Committee
Summer 2025 I was an Intensive Case Management intern at the International Rescue Committee, a global organization that assists refugees with self-sufficiency. I assisted a case worker with client intake, evaluation, and management. I made client appointments, created complex solutions for healthcare and housing options, and managed applications for public benefits (e.g. Medicaid, SNAP). I communicated directly with clients daily, mostly with an interpreter service.
Leadership and Organization
Campus Girl Scouts
I am a troop leader for Athens Girl Scout troops. We meet bi-weekly with Girl Scouts to mentor and guide their completion of badges. I am a lesson planner for each meeting and create the presentations. As a campus organization we also sell cookies to fundraiser for the troops.
High School Leadership
I was the president of my high school Earth and Sustainability Club, Beta Club, and parliamentarian for the National Honors Society. I also was a captain of the JV lacrosse team for two years in high school. All of these experiences shaped the foundation of my leadership and organizational skills.
